Hammer kickstarted her "Role Models Not Runway Models" campaign in 2014, her first year showing at fashion week, with the goal to choose models that best represent the women who buy her designs—business minds, non-profit workers, brilliant researchers, and more woman who simply inspire her.

One of those women is Brewer, and with good reason. "Young girls and even young women … [see me] and say, 'Hey, if she can do it so can I,'" the actress, who has been an advocate for people with intellectual disabilities since her teens, told Today. "It’s a true inspiration being a role model for any young women to [encourage them] in being who they are and showing who they are."

Hammer told Today that she designed the sleek A-line dress Brewer modeled specifically to highlight the actress' tiny waistline—and, she hopes, to catch the eye of another great lady: Michelle Obama.
