Ryan Adams isn't letting his broken marriage slow him down. Just hours before news broke of his split from wife Mandy Moore on Friday, Jan. 23, the indie rocker pre-taped a performance on the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. The rocker looked cheerful as he snapped a few Instagram photos with his band.
"Sometimes you wake up and play @Latenightseth with Don Was. Day improved already," Adams, 40, captioned one pic from stage, with the 62-year-old record producer and musician. In a second selfie, he posed with fellow guests Jeff Goldblum and Judd Apatow. "Wow what a day!!!" he wrote.
Adams performed his 2014 ballad "Gimme Something Good" on the show, which oddly enough, features backup vocals from Moore in the original recording on his self-titled fourteenth album.
"I can't talk / My mind is so blank / So I'm going for a walk / I've got nothing left," he crooned during the Friday night show. "All my life been shaking / Wanting something / Holding everything I have like it was broken / Gimme something good."
Moore, for her part, posted a cute photo earlier in the day of one of their several cats. "#Friday," she captioned. (Back in August, Moore stopped by Us Weekly's NYC headquarters and gushed about the couple's "little zoo" of pets at home.)
An unexpected couple to many, Adams and the former teen pop star, 30, secretly wed in 2009 and celebrated their five-year anniversary with friends back in March. The couple confirmed their split in a statement on Friday.
"Mandy Moore and Ryan Adams have mutually decided to end their marriage of almost 6 years," Moore's rep told Us. "It is a respectful, amicable parting of ways and both Mandy and Ryan are asking for media to respect their privacy at this time."
