Time to get in gear! Fast and Furious 8 officially has a new title — and its first teaser trailer. All was revealed on Friday, December 9, four months ahead of its premiere.
The new movie in the smash franchise will be called The Fate of the Furious. In the 15-second clip, Dom (Vin Diesel) and Hobbs (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) get behind the wheel in action-packed battles, while an armed Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) is ready for a takedown.
Charlize Theron’s badass Cipher makes her debut, too. Back in April, it was announced that the Oscar winner, 41, would be joining the cast as a villain. In the preview, she shows off a sick ponytail and an even more impressive closet of weapons and bulletproof vests.
The eighth installment also stars Jason Statham (Deckard Shaw), Jordana Brewster (Mia), Tyrese Gibson (Roman) and newcomers Scott Eastwood and Helen Mirren, whose characters have yet to be revealed.
In August, The Rock, 44, raised eyebrows when he not-so-subtly called out some unprofessional “candy asses” on set, which included Diesel, 49. According to TMZ, the two had a secret meeting to hash things out in Atlanta.
“I was very clear with what I said. I’ve been in the game a long time,” the Baywatch star would later tell the Los Angeles Times in November. “Would Universal [Pictures] have preferred that didn’t happen? Sure, we talked about it. The irony is after that, and as they do their tracking and all their analysis, the interest [in Fast 8] shot through the roof to a whole other level.”
The full trailer drops on Monday, December 12. The Fate of the Furious races into theaters on April 14, 2017.
