Miley Cyrus: "I'm Not Gonna Go To College"

Don't expect to see Miley Cyrus scouting any college campuses this summer.
"My sister went to MTSU in Nashville, so I'd probably want to be there with all my friends, but I'm not gonna go to college right now," Cyrus, 17, told Q100's Bert Show Monday morning. "I am a firm believer that you can go back at any age you want, because my grandma went back to college at 62 years old."

The "Can't Be Tamed" singer is growing up in more ways than one, even if her critics still see her as a little girl.
"No one ever wants to see someone grow up," she complains. "It's like when Hilary Duff started growing up off the Disney Channel. Everyone thought she was anorexic and she did this and that. It's just because she grew up! She didn't look like a 12-year-old anymore."

And though she's beginning to step out of Hannah Montana's shadow, Cyrus doesn't understand the controversy surrounding her latest music video (in which she wears a $25,000 corset).
"My song is clearly about breaking free and being out of a cage and being able to be truly who you are," Cyrus says. "If you see Hannah Montana through that, or are mad because you don't, turn on Disney Channel. That's where my show is. My show is still on the air. I'm not done doing Hannah Montana...your true fans are gonna love the artist when they express themselves."

Let's drop the charade, shall we? Who actually expected Miley Cyrus to go to college at all? It's quite the shock to me to hear that she managed to obtain a high school diploma. The fact that she is "deferring" her matriculation (read: most likely never going to attempt a postsecondary education) comes as no surprise. And on a related note, MTSU is in Murfreesboro, TN, not Nashville. It is only about a 45 minute drive from downtown Nashville, but still. It's the principle of the thing. And coming from a girl who attempts to claim Tennessee as her home-state. A suggestion: Why doesn't Miley Cyrus take all of the money that she would have spent on college and donate it to the flood-relief efforts that are ongoing across the mid-state? She's not going to get any smarter either way, and at least she would be helping people instead of wasting her professors' time.

Damn, Kobe Bryant just finished only high school and he's trying to make Michael Jordan jealous. He's going win more points over Jordan! Also I heard that the new American Idol champ Lee DeWyze dropped out of high school when he was a teen. But luckily he made it into the celebrity world!!! Poor moms are forcing the kids to finish their entire education until college graduation. There are also 15-16 year olds who are attending college.

all the more respect i have for jodie foster, emma watson and brooke shields. they actually put their lives on hold, wasn't caught up in their "work" (even though they were/are very successful with careers at the time), went away to be normal and got a decent education.

Let's get it straight here Since Miley Cyrus is rich and famous, she won't worry about going to college. Paris Hilton and Britney Spears dropped out of high school but luckily they are successful in life. But poor moms have been forcing their kids to finish their education, go to college and get a REAL job. Look at Jodie Foster and Brooke Shields for example, they put their acting career on hold and focused on education and they both graduated college. Not all kids are lucky, so you have to finish both high school and college. It is not too late to go to college. Recently there were two women in their 90's had graduated college. Even Michael Jordan dropped out of college in order to join the NBA, but he managed to finish the course back for two years. Jordan is still the greatest basketball player of all time! So not all high school dropouts, college dropouts or even college graduates can be successful in life.
