The show must go on! The 2020 Venice International Film Festival is still happening amid the coronavirus pandemic and A-listers are keeping themselves and others safe by donning statement-making masks on the red carpet.
The 77th annual event celebrating the best in film is taking place from Wednesday, September 2 to Saturday, September 12. The event undoubtedly looks different from the year’s past since it’s happening while COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc across the world. Nevertheless, festival organizers are taking extra precautionary measures to keep both celebs and attendees safe.
So far, some celebs to hit the film festival’s red carpet include Cate Blanchett, Taylor Hill and Tilda Swinton. Some, like Blanchett, are keeping things simple by pairing their ensemble with a basic blue surgical mask. Others, like Hill, are getting creative by pairing fun prints with face coverings to match.
Normally, the Venice Film Festival is all about glitz, glamour, and full-length ball gowns. This year, we expect that stars will keep it a little more casual than usual by trading dresses with long trains for sleek and sophisticated suits.
The Venice Film Festival is taking place right at the heels of the 2020 MTV Music Awards. Only a handful of celebs actually walked the ceremony’s makeshift red carpet, but even fewer posed in masks. Lady Gaga, however, absolutely nailed the mask game, donning a bunch of unique face coverings over the course of the evening.
