More than just friends? Formerly engaged couple Courteney Cox and Johnny McDaid were spotted out together shopping in Malibu with Cox’s 11-year-old daughter, Coco, on Easter Sunday, March 27. Following speculation of a reignited romance, the Friends alum’s rep tells Us Weekly the status of the pair’s relationship.
“They really care about each other and they are spending time together,” Cox’s spokesperson tells Us.
The duo’s reunion comes four months after Cox, 51, and McDaid, 39, ended their engagement in November 2015. Ahead of their holiday outing, the two were last photographed together in August 2015. The next month, Cox tweeted an adorable snapshot of her now-ex planting a kiss on her forehead.
As Us Weekly previously reported, the Snow Patrol rocker dropped down on one knee for Cox in June 2014. He popped the question at a birthday party for Cox’s daughter held at BFF Jennifer Aniston’s L.A. home. The British musician even asked Coco’s permission to tie the knot with her mom.
“He gave her a little diamond ring and got on his knee,” the actress revealed during a September 2014 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!. “And she said, ‘Great! I’m going to camp tomorrow. Let’s do it right now!'”
In December 2013, Cox and McDaid gushed to Us about each other.
“He supports me in every way,” Cox told Us at the premiere for her directorial debut, Just Before I Go. “He supports me creatively. He really believed in the movie … and not just because he likes me, though I know that helps.”
Added her then-beau: “Courteney is the most completely confident person I’ve ever met — at everything. She gets music. She gets art. She gets the way a scene gets constructed, the way dialogue works. And she puts it all together in her mind and then explains it to the world and makes movies that make people laugh and cry, squirm and jump, all those things.”
McDaid was the Cougar Town star’s first public relationship since she split from Coco’s father, David Arquette, after 13 years of marriage in 2013.
