Johnny McDaid

Johnny McDaid is a Northern Irish musician, songwriter and record producer best known for his role as a member of the band Snow Patrol and his high-profile relationship with Courteney Cox. Born in Derry, Northern Ireland, McDaid was raised in a musical family and developed an interest in songwriting at a young age.

McDaid began his music career as a member of the band Vega4 before joining Snow Patrol in 2011. His work as a songwriter and producer expanded his reach in the industry, including collaborations with major artists like P!nk, Alicia Keys, Keith Urban and Kelly Clarkson.

In addition to his work with Snow Patrol, McDaid is a frequent collaborator of Ed Sheeran’s, cowriting various songs with the award-winning artist including “Shape of You” and “Photograph,” both of which became global hits. He has also written and produced music for a range of artists across genres, releasing albums including Eyes Open (2006) and The Forest is the Path (2024) with Snow Patrol.

McDaid has been in an on-and-off relationship with Friends actress Courteney Cox since 2013. The couple were briefly engaged before calling it off, though they later reconciled and have remained together since.
