
Alexis Denisof
Alexis Denisof is an American actor best known for playing Wesley Wyndam-Pryce on Buffy the Vampire Slayer and its spinoff Angel, as well as Sandy Rivers on How I Met Your Mother. Denisof was born in Salisbury, Maryland, and moved to Seattle as a child and later attended St. Paul’s School in New Hampshire. He attended Highline College and later relocated to London, where he trained and worked in theater. He is also listed as an alumnus of the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.
Denisof began his career in stage and onscreen productions including Murder Story (1989) and Dakota Road (1991) before landing his breakout role as Wesley Wyndam-Pryce on Buffy the Vampire Slayer in 1999. The character became a fan favorite and was expanded into a leading role on Angel, where Denisof appeared throughout the series’ five-season run. His work on the cult-favorite franchise established him as a recognizable figure in genre television and helped launch a steady career in film and TV.
Denisof went on to appear in shows including How I Met Your Mother, Dollhouse, Grimm, Finding Carter, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Legacies. In film, he’s landed roles in films including Love, Wedding, Marriage (2011), The Avengers (2012) and Much Ado About Nothing (2012).
Denisof met Alyson Hannigan while working on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The couple married in October 2003 and have remained together since. They share two daughters: Satyana Denisof (born in 2009) and Keeva Jane Denisof (born in 2012).
