Catherine O’Hara is an actress and writer born on March 4, 1954 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.O’Hara’s career began in 1974 in her role for the comedy series The Second City alongside other actors like Eugene Levy. She was also an understudy for Gilda Radner before Radner left Saturday Night Live.

Two years after being an understudy she and other actors created Second City Television. More recently, O’Hara enjoyed a new career high thanks to her role as Moira Rose in Schitt’s Creek. For this role she has won a Primetime Emmy Award, Golden Globe Award, SAG Award and more for the comedy series.

She made her feature film debut in 1980 in Double Negative and later performed supporting roles in movies like Home Alone, Beetlejuice, After Hours and more. She has also extended her acting career in voice acting roles in several animated films like The Nightmare Before Christmas, The Addams Family, Chicken Little, and more recently The Wild Robot.

O’Hara met her husband Bo Welch a production designer on the set of Beetlejuice. The couple married in 1992 and have two sons together, Matthew and Luke. Her sister, Mary-Margaret O’Hara is a singer-songwriter. Catherine has written and performed songs in Christopher Guest’s film A Mighty Wind.
