Chris Noth

Chris Noth is an actor best known for playing Mr. Big on Sex and the City, Detective Mike Logan on Law & Order and Peter Florrick on The Good Wife. Noth spent his childhood in Madison, Wisconsin, and traveled extensively with his mother following his father’s death when he was 11. Noth attended Marlboro College in Vermont before earning a master’s degree from Yale University’s School of Drama in 1985. He also studied acting at the Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theatre in New York City.

Noth began his acting career in theater before landing television roles in the 1980s. He rose to prominence as Detective Mike Logan on NBC’s Law & Order, appearing from 1990 to 1995 before reprising the role on Law & Order: Criminal Intent. In 1998, he joined HBO’s Sex and the City as Mr. Big, the love interest of Sarah Jessica Parker‘s Carrie Bradshaw. He later played politician Peter Florrick opposite Julianna Margulies on The Good Wife. Noth earned two Golden Globe nominations for his television work and won a Theatre World Award for his performance in the Broadway production of The Best Man. His film credits include Cast Away (2000), The Perfect Man (2005), My One and Only (2009) and Cutman (2025).

Noth began dating actress Tara Wilson in the early 2000s after meeting her at The Cutting Room, a New York City music venue he co-owns. Their son Orion (born in 2008) arrived before the couple married in April 2012. They welcomed a second son, Keats (born in 2020). In December 2021, Noth faced allegations of sexual assault from multiple women, which he denied. His role in The Equalizer as William Bishop was subsequently cut following the allegations.
