
Jenny Lewis
Jenny Lewis (born Jennifer Diane Lewis) is an American singer-songwriter and actress best known as the frontwoman of indie rock band Rilo Kiley. Lewis was born in Las Vegas and grew up in Los Angeles after her parents divorced. She began working as a child actor at age 3 and received much of her schooling on set. She later attended community college for a year, primarily focusing on her career as a musician.
Lewis appeared in commercials and television shows before landing roles in films including Troop Beverly Hills and The Wizard in 1989. She also appeared on The Golden Girls, Growing Pains and Brooklyn Bridge. As a child actor, she won two Young Artist Awards for her performances in A Friendship in Vienna and My Father, My Son (1988). In 1998, she formed Rilo Kiley with Blake Sennett, which went on to release four albums and gained wider attention with 2004’s More Adventurous.
Lewis launched her solo career with the 2006 album Rabbit Fur Coat and later released albums including Acid Tongue (2008), The Voyager (2014), On the Line (2019) and Joy’All (2023). She went on to perform with The Postal Service and formed the duo Jenny & Johnny with Johnathan Rice. Rilo Kiley reunited for performances in 2025.
Lewis dated Sennett during Rilo Kiley’s early years before beginning a relationship with Rice. The pair dated for 12 years before splitting in 2016.
