Robert De Niro

Robert De Niro is an Oscar-winning actor best known for his roles in The Godfather Part II (1974), Taxi Driver (1976) and Goodfellas (1990). Born and raised in New York City, De Niro attended the High School of Music & Art before studying at the Stella Adler Conservatory and Lee Strasberg’s Actors Studio, where he trained in method acting.

The actor’s career took off in the 1970s with standout performances in Mean Streets (1973) and The Godfather Part II (1974), the latter earning him an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. He became one of Hollywood’s most respected actors, known for his collaborations with Martin Scorsese in films like Raging Bull (1980), Casino (1995) and The Irishman (2019). He won his second Oscar for Raging Bull and has been nominated multiple times throughout his career. He later found success in comedy with Meet the Parents (2000) and Silver Linings Playbook (2012).

De Niro has made a handful of TV appearances, including on Saturday Night Live and Nada. In 2025, he signed on to the cast of Netflix’s Zero Day as George Mullen.

The Oscar winner wed Diahnne Abbott in 1976, and they welcomed son Raphael that same year. He adopted Drena, Abbott’s daughter from a previous marriage, before their divorce in 1988. He entered a relationship with model Toukie Smith later that year, and the pair share twins Julian and Aaron (born in 1995); they split in 1996.

He later married Grace Hightower in 1997, and they had two children, Elliot (born in 1998) and Helen (born in 2011), before divorcing in 2018. In 2023, De Niro welcomed his seventh child, Gia, with girlfriend Tiffany Chen.
