Mike told Entertainment Tonight on Wednesday, September 25, that he had been doing intermittent fasting while in prison in order to slim down.

“I went to sleep every night at 10 p.m. I woke up every morning at 7 a.m. and did fasted cardio for about an hour,” he said. “My window of intermittent fasting was between 16 and 17 hours on the weekdays, and 18 and 19 hours on the weekends. I had to continually challenge myself, whether it was in the gym and/or diet.”

In addition to fasting, the MTV personality worked out two to three times a day. “I felt very accomplished staying busy in prison,” he told ET.

Mike was sentenced to prison during an October 2018 court appearance after pleading guilty to tax evasion. He started serving time in January and was released on September 12.

The reality star has since been spending much of his time at home with Lauren, 34, whom he wed in November 2018.

“We are elated to finally close this chapter of our life,” Lauren (née Pesce) said in a statement to Us Weekly after Mike’s release from prison. “Thank you to our family, friends and fans for the continuous love and support during this time. It brought us so much peace and comfort. We look forward to continuing our life as husband and wife and working on baby situations! We truly believe that the comeback is ALWAYS greater than the setback and we can’t wait to show the world ours.”
