Bonding at birth! Hilary Duff had just delivered her baby girl, Banks, when the newborn reached out her arms for a hug.
“I’ve been wondering for a long time if I would ever share this video as it is extremely personal,” the Younger actress, 31, captioned her Monday, March 25, Instagram post. “It was so absolutely lovely and rewarding (and shocking) that after giving birth to my baby girl we hugged … for the first time. In my mind I like to believe that she was saying, ‘Good job mom. Go team go. We did it. Together.’”
The singer welcomed her baby girl in October 2018 with her boyfriend, Matthew Koma.
The Lizzie McGuire alum added: “Matt provided such a safe calm strength, my mommy and sissy were there to cheer me on, and of course my birth angels to make sure all was well [with] big brother (downstairs deep in legos). I cannot believe this day was only 5 months ago!! It seems like B has been here with us all along.”
In the intimate footage, Duff sat in a pool moments after her water birth with her daughter to her chest. After the actress kissed Banks’ forehead, the infant opened her eyes wrapped her hands around her neck. The Elixir author leaned into the hug.
“Banks Violet Blair,” Duff captioned her Instagram reveal at the time. “This little bit has fully stolen our hearts! She joined our world at home on Thursday afternoon and is absolute magic.”
Koma posted the same family shot to his account, writing, “We welcome a beautiful daughter, little sister, and best friend for life. Could not possibly be more grateful for our growing family and for the [woman] who makes it all possible. Cloud ten.”
Duff already shares Luca, 7, with her ex-husband, Mike Comrie. She and the former pro hockey player, 38, tied the knot in 2010, had their son two years later and split in 2016.
