Growing up! Jennifer Garner embarrassed her 7-year-old son, Samuel, at his birthday party when she got a little too into the How to Train Your Dragon theme with a costume and face paint.
“Well, guess what. It turns out 7 is the age my kid stops thinking it’s cool when I dress up for the party,” the Camping actress, 46, captioned a hilarious Thursday, February 28, Instagram post. “#youngestchild #firsteyeroll #anyoneneedanAstrid.”
Garner was all smiles in the pic, standing in a doorway with a dragon cake in her hands and black balloons surrounding her. The Alias alum channeled one of the movie’s stars Astrid by wearing a fur wrap, maroon leather armor and furry boots. Bright blue face paint completed the costume.
The actress shares Violet, 13, Seraphina, 10, and Samuel with her ex-husband, Ben Affleck.
She isn’t the only parent to go all out for Samuel. Affleck, 46, admitted on an episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live! earlier this month that he gave his son’s bedroom a wild Patriots makeover because the little one preferred Los Angeles sports teams over Boston ones.
This comment led to “a full existential crisis,” the Gone Girl actor said. “I failed. I’m a bad father. This is a disaster.”
As a result, Affleck decided to turn Samuel’s room into an over-the-top tribute to the football team. It now features an “emblem for the greatest sports franchise in history” on one wall, a Tom Brady painting on another and a “gigantic football bisected by a slide.” He even added a chair that is shaped like the quarterback’s helmeted head.
“My ex-wife thinks it’s creepy,” Affleck told Jimmy Kimmel, 51, at the time.
