Their boys! Charlie Sheen and his ex-wife Brooke Mueller are the proud parents of twin sons Max and Bob.
“They’ve made me a better man,” the Two and a Half Men alum told In Touch Weekly in May 2009, two months after the birth of his only sons. (Sheen is also father of daughter Cassandra, born in 1984, with ex Paula Speert, as well as daughters Sami, born in 2004, and Lola, born in 2005, with ex-wife Denise Richards.)
Mueller, who was married to the Scary Movie 3 star from 2008 to 2011, agreed at the time. “I do see him being a better man now that the boys are here,” she said about her then-husband, who has been vocal about his substance abuse issues and more. “He’s totally involved.”
Despite their initial joy, Sheen and Mueller went on to have a tumultuous relationship. The World According to Paris alum dealt with her own substance issues and entered treatment several times.
In 2012, Richards — who was married to the Ferris Bueller’s Day Off star from 2002 to 2006 — told Access Hollywood that she would always be there for Mueller and Bob and Max.
“They’re our family, and they’re Sam and Lola’s brothers,” the Wild Things actress said. “I can’t imagine growing up without my sister, so anytime [Brooke] needs help, I’m there for the boys. [Sam and Lola] are the best big sisters to [the boys], and they love them.”
Seven years later, Mueller entered rehab for another time and Bob and Max were sent to live with their maternal grandparents.
“Between myself and the boys’ two amazing sets of grandparents, we continue to seamlessly love, shelter and protect Bob and Max from the haphazard choices and unsightly behavior their mom refuses to extinguish once and for all,” Sheen told The Blast in August 2019. “These wonderful boys need their mom, and hopefully one day soon they will finally have one. Until then, on every front, we got this.”
Three years later, however, Sheen and Mueller’s contemptuous relationship softened to the point where they were able to come to an agreement about custody of their boys.
“Mr. Sheen and Ms. Mueller recognize together the great benefit to their children in peacefully, privately coming to terms focused on the family’s overall best interests,” Sheen’s attorney, Gregory J. Pedrick, Esq., told Us Weekly in a statement in April 2022. “They should be applauded for making that happen.”
One year later, in March 2023, the family once again made headlines after their sons appeared all grown up while out with the Wall Street actor. In photos obtained by Page Six, Max and Bob grabbed food with Sheen in Malibu, California. The twins, who are now the same height as their dad, also look just like their father.
