Brandi Cyrus and her mom, Tish Cyrus, are raising eyebrows after their latest discussion about men.
“Men are trash. The majority of them are absolute garbage,” Brandi, 37, shared on the Thursday, January 16, episode of the “Sorry We’re Cyrus” podcast. “But there’s a couple of good ones out there, I guess. I think I found one, so we love that for me.”
When Tish, 57, confirmed her daughter’s new man is named Matt, Brandi quickly reminded her that “we can’t say his name.” That didn’t stop the mom of five from sharing her positive review of Brandi’s special guy.
“You know what, he’s Australian,” Tish continued. “I’m not gonna rag on American men, but Australian men are just different.”
Brandi replied, “Well, not all of them.”
While the mother-daughter duo both laughed before quickly moving on to the next topic, some listeners suspected they may have thrown shade at Miley Cyrus’ ex-husband Liam Hemsworth.
“The way they called out liam hemsworth,” one fan commented on YouTube. Another follower replied, “LOL True!”
Miley, 32, first met Hemsworth, 35, — who is Australian — in 2009 while filming The Last Song. They got married in December 2018 before splitting up in August 2019.

“I had a very public, very big breakup that was a 10-year span of a relationship,” Miley said on an August 2020 episode of Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy” podcast. “I tried not to get lost in the emotion. …It’s like a death when you lose a loved one, it’s that deep. It feels like a death.”
Miley was later linked to Australian singer Cody Simpson from October 2019 to August 2020 before calling things off. She is currently dating musician Maxx Morand.
“Tish adores him and thinks they complement each other perfectly,” a source told Us Weekly in September 2024 of the mom’s thoughts on Miley’s current relationship, adding that the pair haven’t even thought about marriage or kids.
Another Australian who has earned the respect of both Brandi and her mom is Dominic Purcell. The actor has been married to Tish since August 2023 and continues to shower his wife with love.
In her recent podcast episode, Tish praised her husband for being a loving partner — especially in recent months.
“I have been a basket case all year and this man has taken care of me in the most loving, amazing way,” she said. “He deserves a freaking medal of honor for putting up with me for seven months, truly. Dom was the only person who was solid every solitary day. He stayed home with me. I just hope I can pay it back one day.”
