Kristen Stewart and Rupert Sanders were flirting with danger months before they were caught kissing by photographers in L.A. July 17.
During their worldwide press tour for Snow White and the Huntsman, the actress, 22, and the director, 41, looked cozy at a group dinner with castmates May 15 at Monsieur Vuong Vietnamese restaurant in Berlin, Germany.
Stewart kept her look casual, wearing a Led Zeppelin shirt and her hair in a messy ponytail, while Sanders donned a basic black tee.
The following night, Stewart went for a more glam approach when she paired a 10 Crosby by Derek Lam dress with a McQ Alexander McQueen belt at the film’s Berlin premiere; she was joined on the red carpet by director Sanders, and costars Charlize Theron, 36, and Sam Claflin, 26.
Many months prior, Stewart’s boyfriend, Robert Pattinson, 26, was a constant presence on the set of Snow White and the Huntsman. “Rob and Kristen are both very down-to-earth, very nice people,” Sanders has said. “We all became very close friends.”
Too close, it would seem. The pictures and details of Stewart and Sanders’ infidelity — available exclusively in the new issue of Us Weekly — chronicle their public PDA in L.A. July 17. During Sanders’ marathon makeout session with Stewart, “it seemed like they couldn’t get enough,” according to one photographer.
On July 25, both Stewart and Sanders issued statements apologizing for their illicit behavior and those they hurt as a result.
“I’m deeply sorry for the hurt and embarrassment I’ve caused to those close to me and everyone this has affected,” Stewart said. “This momentary indiscretion has jeopardized the most important thing in my life, the person I love and respect the most, Rob. I love him, I love him, I’m so sorry.”
Sanders — who has two children, ages 7 and 5, with his wife, model and actress Liberty Ross, 33 — said he was “utterly distraught about the pain I have caused my family. My beautiful wife and heavenly children are all I have in this world. I love them with all my heart. I am praying that we can get through this together.”
Pattinson has yet to comment on Stewart and Sanders’ affair.
