Star Trek star Nichelle Nichols suffered a mild stroke on Wednesday, June 3

Nichelle Nichols has had a rough few days. The Star Trek star, 82, was rushed to the hospital on Wednesday, June 3, after suffering a stroke.

"Last night while at her home in L.A., Nichelle Nichols suffered from a mild stroke," her rep, Zach McGinnis, wrote in a statement on her official Facebook page Thursday.

He continued: "She is currently undergoing testing to determine how severe the stroke was. Please keep her in your thoughts."

The actress-director played Uhura in the TV show Star Trek from 1966 to 1969, and reprised her role in Star Trek: The Animated Series for one season in 1973. Her film credits also include Star Trek (1979), Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (1982), Star Trek III: The Search for Spock (1984), Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986), and Star Trek: The Final Frontier (1989).

The Illinois native recently wrapped films Unbelievable and The White Orchid, which are set to release this year.
