Hollywood’s elite only had one main destination this weekend — the 86th annual Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood. But the Oscars celebrations don’t take up a single night.
The legendary awards show, which took place on Sunday, March 2 and was hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, is a culmination of awards-season fun that includes parties, speeches, and honors.

Friday, February 28
8:37 p.m. Friends in high places! Oscar nominee Sandra Bullock stands up to greet and hug Robert De Niro and his wife Grace Hightower when they stop by her table at eatery Craig’s in West Hollywood.
9:30 p.m. A Presidential (Beg Your) Pardon! Former president Bill Clinton stopped by the table of Cameron Diaz, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Ed Norton at a dinner hosted by art dealer Larry Gagosian at Mr. Chow in Beverly Hills.
Saturday, March 1
1:19 p.m. Mom, meet my pals! 12 Years a Slave‘s Lupita Nyong’o introduces her mom Dorothy Nyong’o to Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie at the Independent Spirit Awards in Santa Monica, Calif. The next night she picks up the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her role as Patsey.
1:34 p.m. Across town in the garden of the Soho House, Demi Moore enjoys farm chicken soup and a cappuccino with an older gentleman.
2:35 p.m. Did Seth MacFarlane get an at-home Mani last year? Oscar host Ellen DeGeneres and her wife Portia de Rossi got their nails done together in the living room of their Los Angeles home in preparation for the Sunday show.
8:15 p.m. Baby No. 3? At the Chanel & Charles Finch Pre-Oscars Dinner at Madeo Restaurant, model Poppy Delevingne asks stylist Rachel Zoe if she would have a third kid. She pauses and admits, “I would have another for the sole purpose of having a girl.”
8:37 p.m. Hey, that’s famous lipstick! Over at the 12th annual MPTF Night Before party at the Beverly Hills Hotel, Paul Rudd wipes lipstick off of Julie Bowen‘s face. It was leftover from Sandra Bullock’s goodbye kiss to her!
9:19 p.m. Late night snacks? At the Night Before party, Alyssa Milano and her husband David Bugliari leave the party with six goodie bags!
10 p.m. Wait, he’s worried about his image now? Scandal-loving Toronto mayor Rob Ford refuses to take a picture with a fan at the bar in the Andaz West Hollywood hotel because “it wouldn’t be a good look.”
10 p.m. No longer a Disney kid! Selena Gomez gets carded at the bar at the Night Before party after ordering a clear drink. The “Come And Get It” singer , who is now 21, rolled her eyes, telling the bartender she didn’t have her I.D. on her. Fellow former child actress Michelle Trachtenberg vouched for Gomez, and the bartender passed her the drink.
11:40 p.m. PDA Alert! Heidi Klum and boyfriend Vito Schnabel (who once dated Demi Moore) get touchy on the dance floor at 1Oak L.A. He grabs her boobs as she grinds up on him all night.
Sunday, March 2
10 a.m. #LAproblems: Amy Adams checks into the Sunset Tower Hotel at the same time as Bill Murray. They complain about the terrible Los Angeles traffic then get in an elevator together.
10:51 a.m. Pre-show workout! A makeup-free Adams finishes her treadmill run in the gym of the Sunset Tower. She grabs her towel and a bottled water, and checks herself out in the mirror on her way out the door. Lookin’ good girl!
11:00 a.m. Supermodels eating burgers and fries! Heidi Klum gets ready with her glam squad while chowing down on burgers and fries. She then came down the stairs in her black Versace gown, and her kids gasped “Mommy!” They loved it, kissing the Project Runway star goodbye.
1 p.m. Pre-party push! Sitting in the back of the room, Madonna and daughter Lourdes finish a spin class at Cycle House.
1:10 p.m. Twenty Shades of Nude! Stylist Rachel Zoe gets down on her knees to decide between 20 shades of nude nail polish for Jennifer Lawrence at a Beverly Hills hotel. The Oscar nominee stepped out in a stunning red peplum Dior gown later that afternoon.
2:30 p.m. Pregnant prep! Kerry Washington finishes getting ready at her place. While getting dolled up, the Scandal star fed her glam squad with gluten-free baby cakes with cream cheese, scones, muffins, and orange juice. Music from Beyonce to Rihanna played as everyone danced around the room.
4:50 p.m. Devil Wears Prada reunion! Meryl Streep gives Anne Hathaway a big hug in the Dolby lobby with the Oscars ceremony less than an hour away.
6:00 p.m. Not Girls Only! Newly-engaged Allison Williams gets ready for the after parties and watches the Oscars telecast at a pal’s L.A. home with her fiancé Ricky Van Veen. Williams couldn’t stop gushing about host Ellen DeGeneres. “I love Ellen!” she squeals after multiple bits.
6:28 p.m. Going green! A guy in the Dolby Lounge offers Anne Hathaway some kale chips. She says, “Those are delicious!” Adds last year’s Best Supporting Actress winner: “You know, I’ve grown up in California, lived here since I was 16. There are worse things in life than kale.”
6:30 p.m. Presidential dates! Real Housewives of New York star Carole Radziwill sits between Michael Gill, the U.S. president on House of Cards, and Tony Goldwyn, the commander-in-chief on Scandal, at an Oscars viewing party at Rivabella.
6:33 p.m. Is your video camera on? Presenter Kate Hudson catches Goldie Hawn‘s eye from off-stage and says, “Hi, Mom!”
7:38 p.m. Taking a break — Jennifer Lawrence emerges from the main Dolby auditorium with a female friend while holding hands with boyfriend Nick Hoult. Heading to the bar, she orders two chardonnays. She quips to her friend, “Isn’t there someone who works here who can tell us when it’s important to go back inside?
7:40 p.m. Meanwhile, over at Elton John’s AIDS Foundation Academy Awards Viewing Party hosted by Neuro Drinks and Audi at The City of West Hollywood Park, Sharon Osbourne leads her daughter Kelly over to Lady Gaga. Kelly makes an obscene gesture and rolls her eyes as her mom pulls her away. Kelly and Gaga hug and chat for a while, snapping a few funny photos post-feud.
8:03 p.m. Emotional moment — During Bette Midler‘s performance of “Wind Beneath My Wings,” Julia Roberts started crying while inside the Dolby Lounge bar with Cate Blanchett. She said, “This song always makes me cry, but I’m just overwhelmed with emotions this month.” At one point Cate briefly brought up the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman and said, “It’s f–king terrible. How many more people have to die?! It’s awful.” They clinked glasses to that.
11:08 p.m. Proud parents-to-be! Kerry Washington and hubby Nnamdi Asomugha slowly work the room at the Vanity Fair after party at 8680 Sunset Boulevard, catered by Chef Thomas Keller. The former NFL player is quiet but smiles and socializes with celebrities introducing themselves.
12:14 a.m. Show and tell! At the Vanity Fair after party, Kate Hudson shows Kristen Bell, Dax Shepard, and Leslie Mann a video of her son Bing on her phone banging away on a mini drum set.
12:14 a.m. Fan-girling out! At the Vanity Fair after party, Amy Poehler stops Kerry Washington to say, “You’re so talented. Truly! I’m such a big fan.”
12:30 a.m. Amicable exes? Estranged spouses Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom are spotted having an intense conversation at the bar at Madonna’s after party held at manager Guy Oseary‘s L.A. mansion.
2:15 a.m. Not hiding anymore! Charlize Theron and Sean Penn start making out like crazy. Even Penn’s ex-wife Madonna notices!
2:30 a.m. Speaking of Madge, the Material Girl is dancing with her kids Lourdes and Rocco — encouraging other revelers to start boogying too.
3:00 a.m. Family fun! Julia Roberts dances with niece Emma Roberts until 3 a.m.
5:15 a.m. Till the break of dawn! A tipsy Matthew McConaughey is one of the last to exit Madonna’s bash with his mother Kay McConaughey and wife Camila Alves on his arms. Says a witness, “He was still beaming!” after his Oscars win.
