Time flies! The year is coming to an end, but Google knows exactly how to make sure the trendiest moments of 2019 won’t fade away.
On Thursday, December 12, Google revealed their 2019 Year of Search lists in every category, from movies and TV shows to weddings and babies. The top trending actors of the year includes A-listers, breakout stars and the most scandalous celebs of 2019.
Celebrities caused a search frenzy this year, with a number of high-profile scandals coming to light in the beginning of the year. No. 1 on the list of most Googled actors is Jussie Smollett, who claimed to be the victim of a hate crime near his Chicago home in January, only to later become the suspect. The city of Chicago sued the actor for $130,000 following the alleged attack. In October, a federal judge rejected the actor’s motion to dismiss the city’s lawsuit against him.
Lori Loughlin and Felicity Huffman also rank high on the list, no doubt for their involvement in the college admissions scandal that still has Hollywood’s biggest stars reeling. The Full House and Desperate Housewives alums were both arrested in March for allegedly bribing their daughters’ ways into college.
Huffman served 11 days of her court-ordered 14 day sentence in California federal prison after she pleaded guilty to fraud charges. The When They See Us star was released in October and is expected to complete 250 hours of community service. Loughlin, on the other hand, is still awaiting her trial after being slammed with additional bribery charges in October.
Apart from Hollywood’s most controversial names of the year, Google’s top trending actors included those who made major triumphs throughout 2019. Rami Malek had quite a year, going from winning his first Academy Award for Bohemian Rhapsody to being cast as the villain in Daniel Craig‘s final James Bond film.
