Outraged and heartbroken. Taylor Swift was among the many celebrities who shared their reaction to the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Roe v. Wade after nearly 50 years. "I’m absolutely terrified that this is where we are — that after so many decades of people fighting for women’s rights to their own bodies, today’s decision has stripped us of that," the "All Too Well" singer, 32, wrote via Twitter on Friday, June 24, shortly after the decision was announced. Just one month after an opinion authored by Associate Justice Samuel Alito against the constitutional right to abortion was leaked to the public, the Supreme Court formally overturned the landmark case. The decision will affect the reproductive rights of women across the country, as the legality of abortion will now be decided on a state-by-state basis. Alito wrote the majority opinion, which was decided in a 5-3-1 vote. Justices Stephen Breyer, Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan heavily criticized the majority opinion in their joint dissent: "With sorrow – for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection – we dissent." Like many other celebrities, Phoebe Bridgers has been an outspoken advocate for reproductive rights. After the leaked opinion made headlines last month, the "Motion Sickness" singer, 27, shared her own experience of having an abortion via Twitter. "I had an abortion in October of last year while I was on tour," she wrote at the time. "I went to Planned Parenthood where they gave me the abortion pill. It was easy. Everyone deserves that kind of access." [jwplayer SMb3WNFw-zhNYySv2] The "Kyoto" musician explained why she decided to share her story with social media in an interview with The Guardian that was published on Friday. “I’ve always found comfort in talking to people in passing – when someone’s mom says: ‘I had an abortion when I was a teen.’ It normalized it for me,” Bridgers told the outlet. “I was, ‘All right, it’s time to throw my hat into that pool ... That’s not a phrase, I just made that up. But I didn’t think about it, really, at all.” Acknowledging that "as a white, upper-middle-class woman from California, even if it were to be overturned, I will always have access" to an abortion, Bridgers added that she asked a friend who is a medical student for help when she needed to undergo the procedure. "The people with access will always have access. What pisses me off is that we’re not talking about me." she said. "It’s so easy: I played in Texas the same week, and then I went home and was like: oh my God. Made the appointment. It was 12 hours of my life." Padma Laksmi, who has also been a vocal proponent of women's rights, echoed those comments in a series of Twitter posts. "People will still get abortions," she wrote on Friday. "These procedures won't stop just because Roe v. Wade is overturned. This will only prevent safe, legal abortions from taking place." The Top Chef host, 51, continued: "The right to decide when to start a family or not is a choice every individual should be able to make on their terms when the time is right for them. The talk show cohost recalled on August 3 that she suffered an ectopic pregnancy in the late 1970s, but thanks to proper healthcare and access she survived the ordeal. “The doctor the next day said, ‘We almost lost you,’” she recalled during an episode of The View, pointing out, “I was in the situation where I could go to Beth Israel Hospital, and they took care of it there.”

While Behar clarified that an ectopic pregnancy is not the same as an abortion or a miscarriage, she made it clear that women’s rights over their body should be protected. “What are these people thinking about when they talk about the health of the mother?” she asked, calling out Georgia State candidate Herschel Walker for running on a platform that abortions should be banned entirely in the wake of overturning Roe v. Wade.

"The devastating truth is that we found out the fetus would not survive to full term, and that my life was at risk as well. At the time - I had the choice."

"I was not surprised, because I think that was the goal of packing the court with justices who were on the record for many years of being against women's Constitutional rights to make decisions about our own bodies," she said. The “About Damn Time” singer announced that she and Live Nation will donate $1 million from her upcoming “Special” tour in support of abortion access groups. “I’m pledging $500k from my upcoming tour to Planned Parenthood and Abortion Rights. Live Nation agreed to match— to make it 1 MILLION dollars,” the pop star tweeted on June 24.

The “Truth Hurts” hitmaker also responded to a comment by confirming she’d be sending money to Abortion Funds as well, which describes itself as a network of “grassroots” organizations working to “remove financial, logistical, cultural and political barriers to abortion access.”

“The most important thing is action & loud voices. @PPFA, @AbortionFunds & organizations like them— will need funding to continue offering services to people who are most harmed by this ban,” the Detroit, Michigan native continued, directing fans to her Lizzo Loves You website, which she launched to help black organizations.

“Black women & women of color have historically had disproportionately less access to family planning resources— this is a great loss but not a new one,” Lizzo added.

The iconic pop star shared how worried she was about the landmark Supreme Court decision in a lengthy Instagram post on Sunday alongside a series of photos of her daughters, Lourdes Leon and Mercy.

“I am scared For my daughters, I’m scared for all women in America, I am just plain scared,” the “Vogue” singer captioned the photo set, adding that she was celebrating pride month in New York on Thursday when she woke up to the “terrifying news” the next day.

“Legislation has decided that We no longer have rights as women over our bodies,” she wrote. “This decision Has plunged me And every other woman in this country into deep despair.”

The “Ray of Light” singer shared her disappointment in the Supreme Court’s decision, adding that “we have less rights then [sic] a gun.”
