Mischief managed. While Harry Potter characters Ron and Ginny Weasley and Neville Longbottom were true Gryffindors, the same can’t be said for the stars’ real-life Hogwarts houses.
With the upcoming July opening of the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child stage play, Rupert Grint (Ron), Bonnie Wright (Ginny), Matthew Lewis (Neville) and Evanna Lynch (Ravenclaw member Luna Lovegood) were put to the test by the online Sorting Hat on J.K. Rowling’s website Pottermore. In the Friday, June 3, video, each of the four actors was sorted into one of the four famous houses: Gryffindor for the brave, Ravenclaw for the wise, Hufflepuff for the fair and Slytherin for the cunning.
“It’s very in-depth, isn’t it?” Grint, 27, said while going through the questionnaire in the clip.
While some of the questions were simple (Black or white?), others required a little more thought. “A muggle confronts you and says they are sure you are a witch or wizard. What do you do?” one question asks.
“Which of the following do you find most difficult to deal with: hunger, … cold, loneliness, boredom, being ignored?” Lewis, 26, pondered. “This is so personal.”

The actors’ results were totally surprising, and it looks like Grint might be trading in his gold and red scarf for something new. “I feel pretty good. Wasn’t what I was expecting,” Grint announced of his Sorting Hat quiz results.
On the other hand, Lynch, 24, was pretty confident about which magical house she belonged in. “I’m not surprised,” she announced of the outcome.
Even if they weren’t all completely happy with their new houses, it seems the Sorting Hat’s word is final. “The Sorting Hat is notorious for refusing to admit it has made a mistake in its sorting of a student,” Rowling writes on her site. “On those occasions when Slytherins behave altruistically or selfless, when Ravenclaws flunk all their exams, when Hufflepuffs prove lazy yet academically gifted and when Gryffindors exhibit cowardice, the Hat steadfastly backs its original decision.”
