What to expect when you're… partying in Hollywood! The stars will descend, eat, mingle, and dance the night away on Sunday, Feb. 2 — and likely into the wee hours of Monday — after the winners are announced at the 2014 Academy Awards at the Dolby Theatre. From Elton John's viewing party to Vanity Fair's annual bash, here's Us Weekly's sneak peek of the night's most VIP gatherings.
The Governors Ball
This party is the Academy's official post-Oscars celebration, with nine-time Grammy winner John Legend serving as the headliner performer.
Inside the Party: Celeb chef Wolfgang Puck, who has catered the event annually 1994, started planning the menu back in December. Puck told Vogue his staff of 900 will begin cooking at 6 a.m. Sunday morning to create a total of 16,000 individual dishes. "The Board of Governors loves the chicken potpie. So does Barbra Streisand," he said. "Win or lose, I’m going to make Bradley Cooper a steak," he added.
And to go with that steak? Repeat performer, award-winning Sterling Vineyards, will once again provide the libations poured at the Oscars telecast and the Governors Ball.
Over the years, the mag's annual fete has established itself as the "unofficial" after party of the evening. Now in its twenty-first year, the biggest question ahead of this year's bash is whether or not Gwyneth Paltrow — who seem to have mended fences with editor-in-chief Graydon Carter after a bitter feud — will attend.
Who to Expect: George Clooney, Michael B. Jordan, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Margot Robbie
Inside the Party: Graydon Carter's annual party has relocated from Sunset Tower to a a newly-designed spot this year at 8680 Sunset Blvd. in West Hollywood to accommodate more revelers. Invitations to the most sought-after, star-studded bash have already been mailed out. Oscar winners are expected to tout their golden statues in front of the grassy step-and-repeat at the hottest after party in Tinseltown.
22nd Annual Elton John AIDS Foundation Viewing Party
Big stars are expected to show up at the music legend's annual viewing party held in West Hollywood Park, which benefits the Elton John AIDS Foundation. Celebs will arrive at the event in the latest Audi luxury cars.
Inside the Party: The event will be catered by lovably acerbic celeb chef Gordon Ramsey. Neuro Drink cocktails will be served at the party also sponsored by MAC Viva Glam. The 2013 party included guests like formerly-engaged couple Liam Hemsworth and Miley Cyrus, Heidi Klum, and more, but the biggest guest of all that evening was Elton John's adorable son Zachary, whom he shares with partner David Furnish.
Madonna's After Party
Living (or just visiting) the Material Girl's world! The pop superstar hosts this annual private shindig at her manager Guy Oseary's mansion.
Inside the Party: Gucci sponsors the annual bash — which means jaw-dropping swag bags for guests. In the past, the Italian luxury brand has gifted attendees with special luggage embossed with their initials, on site by a Florentine artisan. Other gifts have included Gucci sunglasses and other top-line goodies.
