Will there be more George Clooney jokes? James Cameron bashing? Taylor Swift digs!? Apparently, not even Tina Fey and Amy Poehler can answer that. The former 30 Rock star admitted this week that she and her Golden Globes co-host haven’t jotted down any sort of script for the big award show yet — which is just three days away, on Sunday, Jan. 11.
“We haven’t written the show yet so we have to hurry up and get that done,” Fey, 44, told Us Weekly and other reporters after a TCA panel for her Netflix series Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt in Pasadena, Calif. on Wednesday, Jan. 7. “This is for sure our last time. We did a three-year deal.”
Despite the procrastination, Fey isn’t all that worried about taking the stage for a final round. “I’m ready, I’m bringing it. Amy and I get along very well in that way,” she said. “[We’re] easygoing and we are supportive of, ‘What have you got? Okay, great. I’ll do this then.’ We work very well together in that way.”
The longtime BFFs are pros at hosting at this point, having previously taken the stage in 2013 and 2014. Hollywood A-listers such as Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, and Ben Affleck have all fallen victim to their snappy jabs in the past, but may catch a break this year. After all, repeating material isn’t an option.
“New movies, new things to talk about,” Fey explained to Us. She added a rule: “Don’t do anything more than three times.”
Fey insisted that no one in the audience gets scared of the pair’s monologues, but that may change once they see her wardrobe — or lack thereof.
“Bottomless,” she teased. “I want to do it bottomless.”
The 72nd Golden Globes will air live from the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills on Sunday, Jan. 11, on NBC.
