Talk about a unique wedding souvenir! The Ring Pop wrapper that reportedly held the candy Sophie Turner received when she married Joe Jonas in Las Vegas on Wednesday, May 1, has made its way to eBay.
In lieu of traditional rings, the duo exchanged the sweet treats when they tied the knot in a surprise ceremony in Sin City following an appearance at the 2019 Billboard Music Awards. Per the tasty bling’s listing on the popular e-commerce website, it is billed as “Joe Jonas ORIGINAL AUTHENTIC REAL WEDDING RING WRAPPER used by him in Las Vegas.”
TMZ reports the active listing was created by Jesse Grice, the reverend Elvis who officiated the pair’s “I dos,” so chances are this isn’t a scam. In fact, Grice notes he found the wrapper from 23-year-old Turner’s Ring Pop while filming a segment for Entertainment Tonight. “This ON SCREEN DISCOVERY is 100 legit and you get a copy of the discovery finding the wrapper if you are the lucky bidder,” the description states.
Though bidding for this otherwise innocuous item began at just $10, it has already climbed to more than $4,000, and there are still six days left on the auction.
The description also states that the “slightly used” foil wrapper is from “the cherry-flavored candy ring that held the wedding ring that Joe gave to Sophie in Las Vegas on May 1 2019 at 9 pm.” Grice even included photos of Turner and Jonas, 29, sporting their edible jewelry.
The Las Vegas worker initially told TMZ he wouldn’t sell the item for less than $1,000, but he doesn’t need to worry because the price has already climbed to more than four times that. More specifically, 82 bidders have driven the asking price up to $4,050.
Turner and Jonas’s impromptu wedding was attended by Jonas brothers Nick and Kevin and their respective wives, Priyanka Chopra and Danielle Jonas, Diplo and country singers Dan + Shay, who played their hit “Speechless” as the Game of Thrones star walked down the aisle.
Furthermore, in addition to being married by an Elvis impersonator, the couple got hitched on Priscilla and Elvis Presley’s 52nd wedding anniversary. Priscilla told Us Weekly she thought the gesture was “really, really, very sweet” and said she was “absolutely” honored by it.
