There’s no question that the Duchess of Sussex is on our best-dressed royal list, right next to the Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton and Queen Letizia of Spain. So we are not surprised that Meghan Markle is pulling out all of the stops when it comes to her maternity wardrobe. The former actress has been making appearances wearing labels like Altuzarra Acacia, Stella McCartney, even rocking her bestie Serena Williams’ collection. The newest designer added to her closet? Veja.
The Duchess debuted her Veja trainers while snuggling up next to her prince on the second day of the Invictus Games during her tour of Australia with husband Prince Harry. But, of course, Markle wouldn’t just wear any sneakers for her first outing in kicks, these trainers are completely eco-friendly.
French brand Veja triumphs in creating sneakers “made with raw materials sourced from organic farming and ecological agriculture, without chemicals or polluting processes.” The white and black Veja Esplar leather sneakers Markle wore run at about $150 (veja.com) and are made of organic cotton lining and wild Amazonian rubber. Veja creates eco-friendly footwear stating their products are “a symbol for our generation and our era,” and that the sneakers “crystallize the major issues of globalization through its production, dissemination, and usage.”
This isn’t the first time Markle has supported eco-friendly fashion brands. She has worn green labels in the past such as Theory and Stella McCartney. And we predict this is just the beginning of her eco-friendly wardrobe.
