Ever wondered how celebrities like Lea Michele, Sarah Hyland, Kaley Cuoco, Jenna Dewan, Natalia Dyer, Jessica Alba, Demi Moore, Rashida Jones, Ruby Rose and Christina Ricci always manage to look chic and effortless even when they’re photographed on scorching hot summer days? Celebrity stylist Brad Goreski, who works with all these ladies and more, has got the answers for Us.
Goreski sat down with Stylish while celebrating his partnership with The Vision Council for National Sunglass Day taking place on Thursday, June 27, and revealed the must-have pieces his A-list clients will be seen rocking all summer long.
First and foremost, the fashion guru likes to make the process of picking out an outfit an enjoyable one. “I like to play dress up, so when my clients come into my studio they know that we’re going to have fun and I really take into consideration what we’ve been doing with their style and what we can do to kind of bump it up and a new trend I can show them. … I think my clients like that I bring them so much diversity and so many different looks to play around with and I encourage people in their every day lives to do the same thing,” he says.
While Goreski is all about experimenting and trying new things, there are some staples he swears by. “I think it’s great to have one good layering piece like a bomber jacket,” he says. “You can get them in satin, cotton, linen or all different types of fabrics with different details on them. … You can throw it over a tank and jean shorts if you’re running out the door for dinner with some girlfriends,” he says.
Another key essential for this summer: Flats and sneakers. “I started collecting so many pairs of sneakers. … I think it’s such a great way to stay comfortable and there are so many fun details on them like neon and great fabrics and you can change out your laces and wear them with a summer dress. I think they’re as versatile as a sandal can be.”

Before leaving the house, Goreski says adding a pair of good, protective sunglasses can make or break an outfit. “I’m always grabbing things last minute, so sometimes my sunglasses are actually the statement piece of my outfit if I’m feeling a little bit lazy that day. … If you’re wearing jeans, a t-shirt and a pair of sneakers and you have on a pair of cat eye glasses I think that kind of makes a statement without having to put too much effort in,” he explains.

“With your accessories and especially with sunglasses, I say wear statement making ones or at least have one or two pairs that are maybe something you wouldn’t necessarily wear, but that will do the work for you when you don’t feel like putting in the effort on a hot summer day.”
As for the overall vibe Goreski and his clients are going for this summer? “I’m kind of liking the long skirt, little button up shirt and blazer combos,” he says. “It’s very Italian and Prada and Fendi and all of these brands are kind of doing it. … I’m kind of into that vintage-inspired, European vacation look right now. I just think it’s so chic and it goes well for every age.”
