A far cry from Fantine! Anne Hathaway just pulled off what's arguably going to be her most talked-about performance since her Oscar-winning role in Les Miserables, thanks to Miley Cyrus and Lip Sync Battle.
The Interstellar actress, 32, is the latest celebrity to compete in Spike's new Tonight Show spin-off. Hathaway signed on to face Emily Blunt, and committed to the gig in the way that only she can.
The Princess Diaries alum picked Cyrus' 2013 hit single "Wrecking Ball" for her performance, and nodded to the pop star's talked-about music video for her rendition. In a new teaser for Hathaway's upcoming episode of Lip Sync Battle, she opens the song in a Miley-esque distressed, cropped white tank top, paired with piped athletic pants.
With her hair slicked back to emulate Cyrus' style and wearing bright red lipstick, Hathaway does over-the-top dance moves as she sings along to the track. She soon loses her pants, stripping down to a pair of high-waisted white briefs.
The Devil Wears Prada star has her biggest moment midway through the song, running across the stage to mount a hanging wrecking ball much like the one Cyrus rode in her video. Hathaway is shown swinging on the ball, and in a particularly Cyrus-like move, turns to give her competitor and former costar Blunt the finger. The British star, 32, is fierce competition as she is similarly experienced in musical theater thanks to her role in 2014's Into the Woods.
Following performances from John Legend, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, and Anna Kendrick, among others, Hathaway and Blunt will have their turn in the Lip Sync Battle spotlight when their episode airs on Thursday, April 9 at 10pm. Watch Hathaway do her best Cyrus in the video above!
