Are they or aren't they? Miley Cyrus and ex-fiancé Liam Hemsworth spent the New Year's holiday together with his family in Australia, cozying up at the Falls Music Festival in Byron Bay.

According to Sydney's Daily Telegraph, the pop star, 23, and the Hunger Games hunk, 25, were seen kissing and cuddling at the festival on Saturday, January 2. They also were spotted walking toward the backstage VIP area with Hemsworth's brother Chris and his wife, Elsa Pataky. Eyewitnesses at the event also took to social media about seeing the "Wrecking Ball" singer.

The pair met while filming 2010's The Last Song, and Liam proposed to the former Disney Channel star in 2013 with a 3.5-carat Neil Lane engagement ring. They split in September of that year, around the time the singer's image began to turn more controversial.

"You fall in love with who you fall in love with," Liam told Men's Fitness for its November 2015 issue. "You can never choose. I guess some people just come with a little more baggage. I mean, look — we were together five years. I don’t think those feelings will ever change. And that’s good because that proves to me that it was real. It wasn’t just a fling. It really was an important part of my life and always will be."

The former flames have been spending time together recently, with Cyrus even helping Liam adopt a puppy in November. After the "We Can't Stop" singer flagged a puppy from Wylder's Holistic Pet Center and Rescue in L.A.’s Studio City neighborhood on November 15, the actor adopted the dog.

"Miley sent him a ton of photos," a source told Us Weekly at the time. "Liam was asking for photos of the dog being held. Liam got back from China and literally came right to Wylder’s to take the dog home."
