George R.R. Martin knows nothing! Amy Poehler and the Game of Thrones creator joined Seth Meyers on his show Tuesday, Oct. 28, where they tested Martin on his knowledge about, well, his very own series.
"Amy is going to read a line you've written," Meyers explained. "You have to tell us the character who said the line. Let's see how you do."
"Number one, we'll start easy," Poehler, 43, insisted. "'The night is dark and full of terrors.'"
"Well, that would be Melisandre," said Martin, who was on the show to promote his new encyclopedia-like companion book, The World of Ice & Fire: The Untold History of Westeros and the Game of Thrones. Poehler, in turn, was on Late Night to promote her own memoir, Yes Please.
She then rattled off several more characters' key quotes, including "Hodor" and the ubiquitous "Winter is coming."
Naturally, Poehler and Meyers' hilarious side commentary made Martin react with giggles and laughter. The trio also got into a brief conversation about weddings and how tough it is to send out invites.
During his appearance Tuesday, Martin also knighted Meyers, deeming the late-night host: "The Knight of Pizza."
Meanwhile, he and Poehler were snapped backstage exchanging their new books.
