
Colin Firth

English actor Colin Firth was born on September 10, 1960. The son of two college professors, Firth spent part of his childhood in Nigeria and St. Louis, Missouri, before returning to his home country.
In 1983, Firth starred as Guy Bennett in the London stage production of Another Country. The following year, he made his feature film debut in a screen adaptation of the play.
Known for his charming personality, Firth won an Oscar in 2011 for his role in The King’s Speech. He has also appeared in Pride and Prejudice, Bridget Jones’s Diary, The English Patient, Shakespeare in Love, The Importance of Being Earnest, A Single Man, Mamma Mia! and Love Actually (among others).
In 1990, Firth fathered a son, William Joseph, with then-girlfriend Meg Tilly. After a brief romance with his Pride and Prejudice costar Jennifer Ehle, Firth wed Italian film producer/director Livia Giuggioli in 1997. The couple has two sons, Luca (born March 2001) and Matteo (born August 2003).
