Nick Swisher
Nick Swisher is a former professional Major League Baseball player. His father was Steve Swisher, a former MLB catcher. Swisher attended high school in West Virginia and was a three-sport athlete. He received Division I offers to play football but chose to play Division I baseball at Ohio State University. His first seasons with the Buckeyes put his name on the map — Swisher was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year and quickly established himself as a force to be reckoned with offensively.
Swisher was first drafted to the MLB in 2002 by the Oakland Athletics and made his playing debut in 2004. Following his college career, he maintained his status as a power hitter — Swisher hit at least 20 home runs in all of his professional seasons. He played for the MLB from 2004 to 2015, and saw time with the Chicago White Sox, New York Yankees, Cleveland Indians and Atlanta Braves.
Swisher saw his most successful season during his time with the Yankees. He played right field for their program, which won the 2009 World Series against the Philadelphia Phillies. He announced his retirement from baseball in 2017 and later made his debut as a baseball analyst for Fox.
In 2009, it was revealed that Swisher was dating actress JoAnna Garcia Swisher, and the two married the following year. They share two daughters: Emerson, born in 2013, and Sailor, born in 2016.
