Ty Pennington

Ty Pennington (born Tygert Burton Pennington) is a television host and designer best known for his appearances on Trading Spaces and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. Pennington spent his childhood primarily with his mother after his parents’ divorce before graduating from the Art Institute of Atlanta with a degree in graphic design.

Pennington started his career as a model and carpenter before landing a role as a designer on TLC’s Trading Spaces in 2000. Three years later, he became the host of ABC’s Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. He went on to win two consecutive Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Reality Program during his tenure on the program.

The TV personality later hosted Ty’s Great British Adventure and American Diner Revival. In 2021, he was named as a host of the home improvement reality show Rock the Block. He joined HGTV’s Battle on the Beach as a mentor that same year.

He has authored several books, including Ty’s Tricks: Home Repair Secrets (2003), and launched his own furniture and home decor lines.

Pennington tied the knot with Kellee Merrell in 2021.
