The Glee alum, 32, revealed her extra cut arms and shoulders, toned calves and muscular back in a black, silky David Koma slip dress at the 2018 InStyle Awards in L.A. October 22. Michele — who announced her engagement to Zandy Reich in April — detailed her diet and fitness routine to Us on August 10.

“It’s not rocket science, it’s the basics,” she tells Us of staying in shape. For the former Broadway star, the basics start with her diet. After getting plenty of sleep, she rates hydration as the best thing you can do for your body. “The first thing I do when I wake up is I pour a big glass of lemon water to just really flush my system and start the day right,” she says. “You have eat right. Every single thing that I put into my body is to nourish and fuel my body. I’ve always felt that food is fuel so what you’re eating is going to help your body. So I don’t eat junk food, I don’t eat processed food. I keep only fresh and healthy ingredients in my home so I can feel my absolute best.”

Another morning staple? Celery juice. “Celery juice is so incredibly good for your body but it’s actually for your liver and it’s a great cleanse first thing in the morning,” gushes the New York City native. “I’ve seen it improve my digestion so much, so that’s another little trick that I’ve been doing in the morning as well.”

As for those ripped muscles, the self-described pescatarian is just as strict about her workouts. “We need to exercise,” she tells Us. “I love CorePower Yoga. It’s hot yoga, it’s absolutely amazing. I try to get to two SoulCycle classes a week and maybe one or two hot yoga.” She also loves simply heading outside. “I hike all the time,” she says. “We have so many great trails here on the West Coast so I love being outdoors and I love getting a workout outside.”

Her biggest exercise turn-off? “I don’t love gyms with fluorescent lighting and music blasting and everyone comparing their bodies to each other,” she notes. “I like a space where I feel safe and comfortable and where I can be working out my mind at the same time as my body.”

And though the Olly Vitamin ambassador claims she hasn’t been working out harder leading up to her big day, she acknowledges she’s in peak physical condition. “If you’re always taking good care of yourself, and if you’re always eating right… then no matter what comes up, you don’t feel like you need to adjust or increase or anything,” she explains. “My goal is to keep on this great track that I feel like I’m already on, and then I know I’ll feel great on my wedding day.”
