Back to basics! Armie Hammer and Elizabeth Chambers’ children have already begun their new school year.
Chambers, 38, celebrated the occasion by posting a photo of the estranged pair’s daughter Harper, 5, and son Ford, 3, holding up signs that detailed the exciting transition. The young ones have been doing their schooling in the Cayman Islands, where the family had been quarantining amid the coronavirus pandemic.
“A couple days late and my sad signs didn’t survive the humidity or enthusiasm. BUT, Monday marked their second week of kindergarten and pre-k IRL in GC and the first day of Zoom Kindergarten for Hops at her school in LA,” the journalist wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, September 2. “Happy back-to-school, whatever that means to you! ❤️ ”
In her Instagram Stories, Chambers shared a pic of Harper seemingly working on a school assignment. “I miss summer,” the TV personality wrote on top of it.
Chambers and the 34-year-old Sorry to Bother You actor’s children ended the previous school year while in the Cayman Islands in June. The Bird Bakery founder posted a pic of her kids held up signs similar to the ones in Wednesday’s photo.
“And…that’s a wrap on the strangest school year that we never saw coming,” she wrote at the time. “We went from discouraging our children from iPads and screens to begging them to sit in front of them for Zoom classes. Their anti-bias Zoom assemblies were replaced with real life lessons and here we are. I’m continuously amazed by, and grateful for the teachers who pivoted so quickly and learned new skills. I genuinely wish that Harper could do this year again with her current teachers because they are national treasures.”
Chambers continued, “ … But more than anything, I’m grateful for this unprecedented and uninterrupted time that has allowed us to understand and know them (and the challenges and responsibilities we’re facing) even better. Our children have processed A LOT these past few months … just a gentle reminder to check in with them, talk to them and learn with them. Happy summer … whatever that means!”
The longtime couple announced the end to their 10-year marriage in July. The pair posted the same photo and statement to Instagram that expressed that their “children and relationship as co-parents and dear friends will remain our priority” despite the split.
An insider exclusively told Us Weekly that Hammer “left” the Cayman Islands a few weeks before the split news was unveiled.
The Call Me By Your Name star revealed on August 28 that he began an unlikely job upon his return to California. “This [is] one of my best friends, Ashton [Ramsey]. For the last 2 months or so, I have lived with Ashton, worked construction with Ashton, and hiked with Ashton every day,” he shared via Instagram. “He has been such a good friend (and boss) and has been the most supportive friend anyone could ever ask for. Today might be my birthday, but I just wanna say thank you to @ashtonramsey and say I love you dude.”
