Bursting with love! David Foster and Katharine McPhee gushed over one another while spending the weekend apart.
The American Idol alum, 34, shared a sweet selfie showing off her diamond engagement ring. “Far away from each other but still can’t wait to marry you @davidfoster,” she wrote on her Instagram Story on Sunday, February 10.
The feeling was clearly mutual, with the record producer, 69, resharing the post on Instagram Sunday and writing, “I won the lottery!!!”
Despite their excitement, however, the pair won’t be going over-the-top with their nuptials: “David and Katharine are leaning toward a small wedding,” a source told Us Weekly in January. “They haven’t done any major planning yet, or even set a date.” The source also shared that the couple will wait until summer or fall, when McPhee has finished her London West End run of Waitress.
A second insider concurred, telling Us that the pair are planning “a very small wedding in London for about 30 people. They both want to make it a very private, small event.”
The Canadian native and the Broadway star got engaged in July with a romantic proposal in Italy, after just over a year of dating.
“He did it at the top of this mountain in Anacapri,” the “Over It” singer revealed via Instagram on July 3. “Totally dark only stars. Thankfully he didn’t push me off the cliff. He said it was one or the other. And in the end he spared me.”
Though the twosome have a large age gap, Foster revealed to Us in November that they actually have a lot in common. “She has a great sense of humor, and we have musicality,” he told Us at the time. “It’s our common denominator. And we’ve known each other for 12 years, too.”
As for McPhee, a source told Us, “When Kat talks about David, her face lights up. She’s really so happy. They’re actually so sweet together … David is really charming. The age difference might seem substantial to some, but they are really cute together and it makes sense.”
