“She has a great sense of humor, and we have musicality,” the music producer told Us Weekly in November 2018. “It’s our common denominator. And we’ve known each other for 12 years too."

There are a lot of famous Canadians, but Foster is definitely on top of McPhee’s list. "Forget justin bieber and drake, my fav canadian import is this guy,” the Smash alum wrote on Instagram in August 2018 while they were in Victoria, British Columbia, together.

After announcing their engagement in July 2018, the former American Idol contestant gave details about the proposal on Instagram. “He did it at the top of this mountain in Anacapri, [Italy],” she wrote on Instagram at the time. “[It was] totally dark only stars."

McPhee’s dad tragically passed away two weeks after the singer and producer got engaged. Fortunately, Foster was there to help his fiancée get through the difficult time. “My love wisely said to me the other day that ‘death is the only thing that is 100 percent inevitable and the thing we are least prepared for,’” she wrote on Instagram in July 2018 while showing off her engagement ring, which she was able to show her father before his death. “So today we’re celebrating life and not forgetting love.”

“We’re all great, we’re all happy,” Foster said on Access Live a week after he popped the question to the Scorpion star. “And you know, for some reason, the two of us, one plus one makes four instead of two. So it seems like it’s interesting news to people, so we’re just gonna roll with it.”

Absolutely giddy! The House Bunny actress called her now-fiancé “so so handsome” in the comments of a June 2018 Instagram picture that showed him leaning against a fence by the beach. “I [heart] U,” she added.

When it comes to their relationship, McPhee knows Foster will always have her back. “Ride or Die,” she captioned a picture of the pair leaning up against a vehicle while on vacation in Hawaii in January 2019.

The “Over It” crooner couldn’t hide her enthusiasm about getting hitched to the record producer in February 2019. “Far away from each other but still can’t wait to marry you @davidfoster,” she captioned a selfie that showed off her engagement ring on her Instagram Story on February 10. Foster was equally as complimentary, resharing the shot and writing, “I won the lottery!!!”

The couple’s June 28 wedding day fell on the 13th anniversary of her debut single, “Somewhere Over The Rainbow.” However, the Instagram post she dedicated to her first post-Idol song also featured a mini tribute to Foster. “Today... I’m marrying the man who produced it,” she wrote of her husband’s contribution to her first track. “Life is full of beautiful coincidences, isn’t it? Thank you for taking me over the rainbow, David.”
