After years of being misidentified for Amy Adams, Isla Fisher wanted to get in on the joke. While preparing a past holiday card photo with husband Sacha Baron Cohen and their children, Olive, 9, Elula, 6, and Montgomery, 8 months, “I cut and pasted Amy Adams’ face over mine, so it was Sacha, Amy and the kids,” Fisher, 40, revealed on the Today show Thursday, November 17. “And then we said, ‘Seasons greetings from Sacha and Isla.’”

Although she assumed her friends and family would be entertained by the prank, the reaction she got from loved ones wasn’t quite what she expected. “No one noticed,” the Keeping Up With the Joneses star said. "Everyone was like, 'Oh, your card was so cute.' I was like, 'It was a joke. It’s not me, it’s Amy!’"

Adams, 42, doesn't quite see the resemblance. "I get Isla Fisher all the time," the American Hustle star told Vanity Fair in 2013. "I get it, but I don't get it." Still, Adams, who is married to Darren Le Gallo, doesn't mind the comparison. "It could be a lot worse," she said. "I could be mistaken for a lot worse people."

While the women’s resemblance is a laughing matter for Fisher, things became more serious when the actress discussed playing the fictional version of Adams’ character in Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals (in theaters November 23.) “This movie is really about emotional violence,” the Muscat, Oman, native said on Today of the “emotionally draining" dramatic thriller. “It’s a lot to take on."

It seems the actress may be making her return to comedy quickly, with a potential second part to her 2005 classic Wedding Crashers. “I bumped into Vince Vaughn at a party, and he said that apparently we’re going to be making a sequel,” she recalled of seeing her costar, who played her love interest in the quotable film. “Apparently there’s some talk of it.”
