Nearly 20 years after the original series debuted, The CW is bringing back Roswell with a new twist. The show, which has added “New Mexico” to its title, will follow Jeanne Mason’s Liz, a biomedical researcher and the daughter of undocumented immigrants. Upon returning home, she finds out a shocking revelation about her teen crush: he’s an alien. (The CW on Tuesday, January 15, at 9 p.m. ET)

The anticipation is high for the next live musical! Jordan Fisher, Vanessa Hudgens and Tinashe will lead Fox’s live version of the hit Broadway production Rent. (Fox, Sunday, January 27, at 10 p.m. ET)

Justin Timberlake isn’t an easy act to follow ... but Adam Levine’s Maroon 5 will take a stab at it, taking the stage at the 2019 Super Bowl halftime show. Us Weekly broke the news that The Voice coach and his band will be playing the show, as well as the fact that they’re having a trouble finding acts to join them on stage. Regardless, it’ll be a sight to see when the group performs in Atlanta, Georgia. (CBS on Sunday, February 3)

Who will host? The 2019 Oscars have already been surrounded by controversy. After Kevin Hart was named as the host, since-deleted homophobic tweets from the comedian resurfaced. In December, he decided to step down. “I do not want to be a distraction on a night that should be celebrated by so many amazing talented artists. I sincerely apologize to the LGBTQ community for my insensitive words from my past,” he tweeted at the time. (ABC, Sunday, February 24, at 8 p.m. ET)

The long-awaited final season – or the beginning of the end, as some say – will kick off in 2019. Filming for season 8 wrapped earlier this year. “Everybody has done a lot of crying-filming the last season, so we’re all feeling very bittersweet and existential crisis-y, the usual,” Emilia Clarke, who portrays Daenerys Targaryen, recently told Us. (HBO, April 2019)

Season 8 will be the last for the dark drama. When the final season begins, a large period of time will have passed, though no other details have been revealed. Showtime president David Nevins announced the news of the series’ end in August 2018. “Alex and Claire both started talking about it towards the end of last season,” he said, referencing star Claire Danes and executive producer Alex Gansa. “I asked, ‘Are you sure? Let’s think about it.’ But when they were resolved, it seemed like it was the right time. The two of them finally made the decision.” (Showtime, June 2019)

After the shocking turn of events at the end of season 4, no one knows what to expect from the fifth and final season of the Showtime drama. Alison (Ruth Wilson) was murdered by her on-off boyfriend at the end of the season and her death was staged as a suicide. However, Showtime recently revealed that the final season will include a 20 or 30-year time jump; Anna Paquin has joined as Joanie – the daughter of Alison and Cole (Joshua Jackson) – who returns to town as an adult to figure out what really happened to her mother. The rest is still unwritten! MTV announced that they were bringing back The Hills: New Beginnings in 2019 with many original stars, including Spencer Pratt, Heidi Montag, Audrina Patridge and Justin Brescia. Original stars Lauren Conrad and (Kristin Cavallari) will not be part of the series. (MTV, no release date)

One of the most talked about dramas of 2017 could likely earn the same title in 2019. Season 2 of Big Little Lies wrapped filming in August. In addition to the regulars from season 1, the sophomore follow-up season added Meryl Streep, who will play Celeste’s (Nicole Kidman) mother-in-law. (HBO, no release date)

While few details have been revealed, Apple’s upcoming drama series has already created quite the buzz. The series was picked up with a two-season, straight-to-series order and stars Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston and Steve Carrell. Described as an inside look at the lives of the people who work in morning television, the show will consist of 10 episodes. This marks the return to TV for both Aniston and Carrell. (Apple, no release date)
