Chrissy Teigen is hardly the only skilled cook in her household! The 33-year-old star took to social media on Sunday, March 17, to show the world that her husband, John Legend, is also a whiz in the kitchen.
“Happy Sunday! Dinner by John!” the Lip Sync Battle cohost tweeted alongside a video showing off all of the food the 40-year-old had prepared. So what exactly was on the menu in the Legend household on Sunday night? “My favorite crap ranch salad inspired by Outback, mac and cheese and fried chicken with buffalo sauce I made from six different hot sauces I got from Hot Ones,” Teigen explained.
In an apparent nod to the rich nature of her home-cooked feast, the cookbook creator added, “Life is short.”

And while it might come a surprise to some that Legend knows his way around the kitchen, Teigen has been open about her husband’s culinary talents in the past. “John’s an amazing cook. He cooked seven days a week while I was pregnant,” she told Bon Appétit in September 2018. “You teach him one thing and he remembers it forever. Now he’s become a chef in his own right. I’m like, ‘you’re really trying to take my title in the house!’ He’s become so good.”
However, even though the EGOT winner was the head chef on Sunday, he made sure his wife was involved in preparing the dinner, too. “Oh Johnny, what do you got there?” Teigen asked her husband as he was taking a dish out of the oven in a video clip shared on Instagram Stories.
“Johnny’s mac and cheese in a Chrissy casserole [dish]” the “All of Me” crooner said with a smile, referring to his wife’s line of cookware.
“Oh hell,” she playfully replied.
After giving her Instagram followers a close-up look at “ranch ass iceberg a la Outback” – AKA an iceberg salad with ranch dressing, cheese, tomatoes and croutons – Teigen got in on the gag, too. “Whose plates are those?” she asked of a stack of dishes Legend was holding.
“Oh those are Chrissy plates,” he declared.
Later that night, presumably after she chowed down on some salad, fried chicken and mac and cheese, the Cravings author revealed that she was looking up a popular dessert item online, explaining via tweet, “Just laying in bed researching funnel cakes.”
Chances are her “research” was actually pretty important. As Teigen told Us Weekly exclusively earlier this month, she’s currently in the process of developing recipes for her upcoming website. “I want to elaborate on things from the first cookbooks, share more of the story, but I don’t want it just to be about the cookbooks. I want it to be about the future and more recipes that we’re creating,” she said of the new venture. “It’s just basically going to be a never-ending process of creativity.”
