Selena Gomez Was a 'Little Stressed' Doing Her Own Makeup for 'Allure'

What can’t she do?! Selena Gomez appeared on the Allure October 2020 cover in a makeup look she created herself using products from her new cosmetics line Rare Beauty — naturally.

The 28-year-old star dazzled on the magazine’s Best of Beauty issue giving Us modern day Frida Kahlo vibes with a bright coral lip and cool, brushed brows. “I had never done that before. I was a little stressed,” she told Allure writer Jessica Chia during the interview. “I was definitely proud to be wearing [Rare Beauty]. I was just like, ‘I hope I did this right.'”

Thankfully, she had the help of her go-to makeup artist Hung Vanngo, who assisted her over Zoom.

The Disney Channel alum used the Liquid Blush in Grace and the Positive Light Liquid Luminizer in Enchant to get a youthful, glowing complexion. For her eyes, she kept the focus on her brows, opting out of a shadow and keeping it simple with a liquid cat eye and wow-worthy lashes. As for the bold lip, she used the Lip Souffle Matte Lip Cream in Inspire.

Though the makeup was all Gomez, the stunning center-part hairstyle was done by hairstylist Marissa Marino, who topped off the look with a sparkly black Michael Schmidt rose crown.

This wasn’t the only standout accessory on the cover. The Texas native also wore a pair of dangly German Kibirski earrings with the black leather Laquan Smith dress.

The “Lose You to Love Me” singer dropped her beauty line on September 3 with 14 different products. While she’s excited to take on this new venture, it’s not the only thing she hopes to focus her energy on. “I would definitely like to say I’m an entrepreneur,” she told Allure. “But I’m new.”

She clarifies, “I am in full control of my life and everything that I do, what is out there, everything. So I would like to say, yes. I’m in charge of everything in my life.”
