After losing all her baby weight fast following the births of each of her three kids, Jessie James Decker knows a thing or two about effective weight loss. And now she’s sharing her slim-down knowledge.
As the country singer told Us Weekly, it all comes down to hard work — and some easy tips and tricks. “I do like to set goals,” Decker told Us exclusively at the Smirnoff Zero Sugar Infusions Launch Party in NYC on Wednesday May 15. “I think it’s a good idea to set them so you can make those goals.”
Taking photographs is one of her favorite ways to track her progress. “I did a lot of before and after pictures,” she noted. “I would take pictures every couple of months and compare them to the last and how much weight I lost. It would just inspire me and make me feel so good. Like, ‘Oh my God, I’m getting there, and all this hard work that I did of working out and trying to eat healthy, it’s paying off!’”
The 31-year-old is a fan of weight lifting and high-intensity circuit training. But at the end of the day, she noted, “my goal is just to be able to feel good in my own skin and have the energy to run after my little babies.” Added the star — who shares Vivienne, 5, Eric, 3, and Forrest, 13 months, with husband Eric Decker — “I feel really good. I’m really comfortable with where I’m at and it’s all about maintaining and staying strong and healthy.”
For her food plan, Decker follows the South Beach Diet, which she’s an ambassador for. “It’s high-protein, low-carb, good veggies and portion control,” noted the Kittenish designer. “That’s what I did and have been on for the last two years. After I have a baby, that’s my go-to, it works for me. I’ll have to have the meal program all the time!”
And, of course, the Just Jessie author makes room for drinks! “It fits my lifestyle and it’s delicious,” she told Us of the zero-sugar Smirnoff flavors (Strawberry & Rose is her favorite). “I’m always conscious of what I’m putting in my body and trying to maintain all the hard work I’ve put in after having three babies.” Added Decker, “My goal is just to be able to feel good in my own skin and have the energy to run after my little babies.”
As for her favorite skinny cocktail? “I don’t like to mix a ton of things together when I have a drink, I like to keep it pretty simple,” she shared. “Truthfully, you don’t really need to mix much besides club soda and, like, a garnish.”
