The former Bachelorette, 35, was the first celebrity to be announced as one of the competitors on the upcoming season of the ABC ballroom dance show in June, two months before the rest of the cast was revealed. Bristowe has a long history on reality TV, but might be ready to throw in the towel soon.

“I’m going into Dancing With the Stars being like, ‘OK, this is my last hurrah,'” she told E! News on Thursday, September 3. “Because I’m ready to have babies.”

Competing on DWTS has been a goal of Bristowe’s for years. In 2017, she claimed that she had been offered a place on the reality competition series, but was told by Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss that she wasn’t allowed. Fleiss, 56, later tweeted that Bristowe had his “total support,” but her dream never came to fruition.

Two years later, Bristowe reignited her spat with the producer, claiming on an episode of the “Talkhouse” podcast that she would “never” be able to compete on DWTS “as long as he’s in power with ABC.” When she was finally announced as a cast member earlier this year, with boyfriend Jason Tartick by her side, she said that she was “honored” to be part of the show.

While the Canadian has a dance background, she doesn’t think she has a huge leg up on the rest of her competition, which includes Selling Sunset’s Chrishell Stause and Backstreet Boys member AJ McLean.

“I just wanted to go into this like as humble as possible because I don’t want to be like, ‘Well, I grew up a dancer, so I’m going to crush this,'” she said on Thursday. “I grew up doing ballet and jazz and tap, but I stopped at the age of 25, and I’ve never stepped foot in a ballroom. I’m terrified.”

To prepare for her turn on the dance floor, Bristowe has been using her free time in quarantine to get herself into shape. In August, she showcased her fit figure on Instagram, noting that she’s been “working so hard” to feel strong this summer.

“I always said when I’m getting to that point, you know, when I’m a year out from having a family or two years, I really want to feel like I’m in the best shape of my life, to feel strong and to go into a healthy pregnancy,” she told E! News. “Then I got news of going to pursue a dream of mine and I was like, ‘This is the kick in the butt I needed’ … So I started immediately and it definitely has paid off over the last 15 weeks.”
