A big day! Reese Witherspoon was all smiles while celebrating Mother’s Day amid her split from Jim Toth.
The Oscar winner, 47, kicked off the festivities on Sunday, May 14, by listening to Laura Dern‘s book Honey, Baby, Mine: A Mother and Daughter Talk Life, Death, Love, which she cowrote with mom Diane Ladd. Witherspoon gave her former Big Little Lies costar, 56, a shout-out via her Instagram Story before sharing a “gorgeous” quote from writer Cheryl Strayed with her followers.
“The mothers you find in people who are not your mother. The mothers like a limb. The mothers like a mirror. … The mothers you aren’t. The mothers you wanted to be. The mothers you became,” the excerpt read. “I am thinking of you. I am holding you all.”
The celebrations continued on Saturday with Witherspoon’s own mother, Betty Reese. The Your Place or Mine actress uploaded a sweet selfie of the twosome via her Instagram Story, writing, “CELEBRATING all the wonderful mamas in the world ! 💐🌸💗.”
The mother-daughter duo treated themselves to brunch at The Continental in Nashville. Witherspoon gave a glimpse of the delicious spread, which included donuts, cinnamon buns, croissants and more.
Witherspoon glowed in a pink and white sundress with her blonde tresses flowing effortlessly around her shoulders. In another Instagram Story snap, she sat beside son Tennessee, 10, who matched with his mom in a pink collared shirt. “Mama’s day ❤️,” the Wild actress captioned the pic.
In a subsequent upload, Witherspoon shared a look at the opposite side of the table. Son Deacon, 19, and his grandmother teamed up for a goofy photo with their arms crossed.
The Draper James founder shares Deacon and daughter Ava, 23, with ex-husband Ryan Phillippe, to whom she was married from 1999 to 2008. Ava did not appear to be celebrating alongside her family on Sunday, but Witherspoon shared a throwback photo with all three of her children.
“Gosh I’m lucky to be their mama 💐💗,” she gushed in the caption.
Deacon could be seen playing with little brother Tennessee on the beach in the family pic. Witherspoon welcomed her youngest child with Toth, 52, one year after they tied the knot in 2011.
The Morning Show star announced via social media in March — days before what would have been the duo’s 12th wedding anniversary — that she and the producer were going their separate ways. As the breakup made headlines, a source exclusively told Us Weekly that the pair’s marriage woes had “been brewing for some time.”
“[They had a] very healthy relationship and a lot of great times together,” the insider added. “Like a lot of couples, they grew apart.”
A second source called the split a “mutual decision,” noting, “No one is blaming the other. … Reese and Jim say they’re parting as friends and will continue to coparent.”
Witherspoon officially filed for divorce on April 1, citing “irreconcilable differences” and acknowledging that she and Toth signed a prenup before their tying the knot. Despite rumors that she moved on with Tom Brady in the wake of her split, the Golden Globe winner isn’t ready to rush into a new relationship.
“Reese has an incredibly full plate with her busy career and kids and doesn’t have time to focus on a relationship. It’s not something that’s even on her radar,” a source exclusively told Us last month, adding that dating is “the last thing” on the actress’ mind.
