Remember in late 2007 when sports fans blamed Jessica Simpson for the poor performance of her then-boyfriend Tony Romo (of the Dallas Cowboys)?
Well, Kate Hudson is no Jessica Simpson.
A sports columnist for the New York Post credits Hudson for the outstanding performance of her boyfriend Alex Rodriguez throughout the 2009 baseball season and now in the World Series.

"There were so many distractions in Alex Rodriguez's life before this year," writes David Wells -- referring, perhaps, to a steroids scandal, his affair with Madonna and his high-profile divorce from wife Cynthia in 2008. "But he's got a good woman with him now in Kate," Wells says, calling the actress "a good luck charm" and "the perfect complement to him."
Wells praises the Bride Wars star for being a "down-to-earth chick," and for her boisterous presence at Rodriguez's games. "She's just supportive of him, and that empowers him with an 'I don't give a damn' attitude."
Look back on Hollywood's ugliest divorces
The columnist has observed fun-loving Hudson outside Yankees Stadium, too. "I've seen her out, and she likes to have fun, so why can't A-Rod do that? And don't worry about what people think about you."
Indeed, sources close to the couple (together since May) have told Us Weekly that "Kate is changing him for the better . . . he's less of a jerk. He's also more free-sprited."

What's their favorite thing to do together?
Well, ahem . . . "They love sex!" another pal tells Us. "They talk about it all day. Kate gets graphic talking about his body, even to her parents."
Following a 7-4 victory ("A-Rod was a hero again," Wells wrote of the game), the Yankees next play the Phillies Monday night for Game 5.
