Recounting the health scare to her TV audience late Monday, DeGeneres, 53, revealed that she first felt "tightness and heaviness" in her chest Sunday, but waited until Monday morning to call paramedics.
Using her trademark humor, DeGeneres reassured fans she's doing just fine.

"The paramedics were strippers that I had called. That's how the rumors got started," she joked to the audience. "I woke up in the middle of the night….[feeling] like something was heavy on my chest and it was a cat, so I moved it. I still felt the tightness and heaviness, so there was another cat under that cat. There were two cats on my chest."
DeGeneres says she has a deep appreciation for the medical team who came to her aid.
"It's better to be safe than sorry. Who doesn't want to see a fireman occasionally?" the host added. "I want to say thank you to all the paramedics and the nurses who showed up...I appreciate it."

Tell Us What You Think
15Ellen-love love your show!!! Hoping you will consider coming to Canada & being the parade marshall for our Oktoberfest parade in Kitchener Ontario!!!! Take care & please please stay healthy, Need you in my day-a definite ray of sunshine!!
So glad that Ellen is ok.....she makes us laugh every day and I am glad she took care of herself and called the paramedics.
She's 53? She looks great! Not at all what I pictured for 53. Hope she figures out what happened and I hope she's not overstressing herself.
I agree with Melva, I know your a comic Ellen but chest pain isn't something to take so lightly I do hope you are getting a complete physical. Come on Portia do what every wife has to do Nag till she gets it checked out!. My husband felt "funny", went to the dr, said his his EKG looked fine but sent him for a stress test anyway, come do find out he had some problems. He now has a defibrillator/pacemaker in his chest just in case his heart stops. Sometimes we do get clues, we just have to listen to them! Please Ellen for all your fans out there get it checked, you could save a lot of lives!!!! We need you to be around for a LONG time!!!!!!!!
Glad she is OK, her show is very inspiring to me, but chest pain is no laughing matter, and as a Nurse, I would like for her to not wait if it should happen again. My blessings Ellen!
OMG....lm soooo....so glad. happy, thrilled to death that Ellen is ok. l luv her to the moon an back!! She is my fav person.....
@Patty... I am sure the situation was serious and those close to Ellen, she was serious about her situation, but when it comes to her career and to the public, she chose to keep the mood around her light and funny as it is not any of our business how serious it was or was not. You should take Gilkana's advice and lighten up a bit.
Patty- You had three hearts?
gikand, I am lighten up, but I dont see chest pains as a joking matter.. Dont worry about me being old, I feel like I am much younger. Maybe you should mind your business. By the way my name is spelled Patty.
Hey, I met a man who are 6'3" on a dating service -- Tal l m eet. ?'?M --. He wants to see me and even have fun with me, but i am only 5'6". I don't know whether I should go to see him though I love tall guys. He said to me that all girls on that site are seeking fun with tall guys...
Glad she's ok! Love her!
Patti... you should lighten up a little. Being frowny and criticizing the way other people deal with issues is what gets you old(er). I agree that these things are no laughing matter but see how she also said that is better to be safe than sorry and that's why she called paramedics?
She can go ahead and joke about this but having chest pains is no joking matter. I am her age and I had 3 hearts in the past. So Ellen go ahead and joke about this. You are telling people that might have chest pains that is all a big joke.
Ellen is an amazing person. She keeps us laughing even when she feels like crying. Love you Ellen-always have and always will!
Did Chaz sit on her?
