Zach Gilford is an actor known for his portrayal of Matt Saracen on the NBC sports drama series Friday Night Lights. He attended Northwestern University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree.

Gilford gained early recognition for his role in Friday Night Lights, which aired from 2006 to 2011. Following this breakout role, he continued to land various roles in television, including Off the Map (2011), The Mob Doctor (2012-2013) and LA’s Finest (2019). In 2014, he also expanded his career to the big screen in films such as The Purge: Anarchy and Devil’s Due.

He has played serial killer Elias Voit on Criminal Minds: Evolution since 2022. He made his directorial debut with an episode of the Paramount+ drama in July 2024.

In 2010, Gilford began dating actress Kiele Sanchez after meeting on the television pilot The Matadors. The couple got engaged in November 2011 and married in December the following year. The couple, who share two children, reunited onscreen in 2024 for an episode of Criminal Minds. News broke in April 2025 that Gilford filed for divorce.
