Born in 1975, Eldrick Tont "Tiger" Woods grew up in California with his two half-brothers and half-sister. He began playing golf at the age of two and was considered a child prodigy, winning numerous tournaments throughout his youth.
Today, Woods is the most successful golfer of all time. He is currently ranked No. 1 in the world and was named the highest-paid professional athlete in 2008.
Woods is the youngest player to achieve the Grand Slam and has won 14 professional major gold championships. He has more career wins than any other active golfer.
He has been awarded the PGA Player of the Year 10 times and has been named the Associated Press Male Athlete of the Year four times.
After four years of dating, Woods married Swedish model Elin Nordegren in 2004. The couple has two children together: a daughter named Sam and a son, Charlie.
Woods was involved in a car crash outside his Florida home in November 2009. Since the crash, Woods has confessed his infidelity, but he has not discussed the 14 women who have come forward so far, claiming to have had an affair with the golfer. He announced in December 2009 that he would be taking an indefinite break from his golf career to focus on his family.
