Politician David (Matt Damon) falls for ballerina Elise (Emily Blunt) at an NYC hotel. Happily ever after? Hardly. Everywhere the duo go, they encounter men trying to part the would-be lovers. Turns out the shadowy guys are super natural bureaucrats who intend for David to become president -- and his passion for Elise threatens their plan. This shaky sci-fi romance entertains for a while, but it grows tiresome as the men develop increasingly mundane ways to stop the two from having an affair, even trying to spill coffee on his dress shirt once so he'll miss her. Still, the actors' romantic scenes excel. Just sitting side by side on a bus, their sexual connection crackles.
